The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested and charged a Clinical Officer at the Ministry of Health for illegally obtaining a financial benefit from Government amounting to K153,000.
Daniel Tembo, 50, a Clinical Officer under the Ministry of Health has been charged with one (1) count of Obtaining Pecuniary Advantage by False Pretence contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that Mr Tembo, being a public officer employed in the Public Service as a Clinical Officer General in the Ministry of Health, did by means of false pretences, dishonestly enter into another contract of employment with Clinton Health Access Initiative without resigning his employment from Government, thereby obtaining pecuniary advantage in the sum of K153,012.46 from the government, a matter concerning the Ministry of Health a public body.
Investigations have established that Mr Tembo dishonestly informed his supervisor that he had been seconded to Clinton Health Access Initiative when in fact not.
Mr Tembo, however, proceeded to accept employment at Clinton Health Access Initiative where he signed a pensionable contract and began to draw a salary and also continued receiving a salary under the Ministry of Health.
ACC Head of Corporate Communications, Timothy Moono says Mr. Tembo has been released on bond and will appear in court on 16th July 2024.
