Republican President Hakainde Hichilema has made it clear that political violence will not be tolerated under his administration.
Speaking to the media at State House today, Mr. Hichilema says the era of thuggery and political violence is over and will not be allowed to resurface.
To ensure law and order is maintained, President Hichilema has since directed the police to take immediate action.
He has warned that if the police fail to restore order, he will have no choice but to involve the army to address the situation.
The President emphasized that he does not expect any citizen or UPND member to engage in lawlessness, as the law will be enforced without exception.
President Hichilema has therefore urged all citizens to remain peaceful and united, emphasizing that the UPND government will not shield anyone who breaks the law.
