The Community Action Against Corruption (CAAC) has urged President Hakainde Hichilema to set up an independent commission of inquiry to investigate the conduct of law enforcement agencies in the fight against corruption in Zambia.
CAAC Executive Director Brightone Tembo says this will help the public understand how government is tackling corruption.
Mr Tembo’s call comes after the recent resignation of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director General Thom Shamakamba.
Speaking in an interview with Power FM News, Mr. Tembo highlighted that a commission of inquiry is necessary to uncover the truth about the activities within the ACC.
He expressed concerns that simply removing individuals from their positions may not lead to the desired outcomes in the fight against corruption.
Mr. Tembo also underscored the need for individuals hindering the anti-corruption efforts to step down from their roles.
